So I logged onto Twitter and I see that the late legendary comedian George Carlin was "trending" which I thought was a bit strange since he passed away in 2008.
Of course, anyone who's read my pieces on Commaful (seriously, what's WRONG with you?) knows what a HUGE fan I am-or was-of George Carlin.
So I was more thna a little perplexed when I saw WHY George Carlin was "trending" on Twitter of ALL places.
Apparently someone-apparently some "woke" person-unearthed a video of an interview he did in 1990 with Larry King. (Anyone remember HIM?)
In the video, Carlin actually chastises fellow comic Andrew "Dice" Clay who was popular-and controversial-at the time for joking about groups such as gays, women AND minorities.
I mean, this would be akin to someone unearthing an old video of Bill Maher saying how "wrong" it was for comics to MOCK someone's religion!
The irony-and hypocrisy-to what George Carlin said in that interview was that same year he would do a comedy special on HBO-the first one I saw of his-where he would joke about gays, women AND minorities (and, of course, OHTERS).
And, when I say he "joked" about these groups, I mean the type of "jokes" that would make the SAME "wokesters" and PCers who are singing his praises now screaming "woke" bloody murder on sites like-where else!-Twitter (which I think George would have eviscerated).
Frankly, I don't know WHY George Carlin said what he did about Andrew "Dice" Clay in that interview, although he wasn't the ONLY comedian who attacked Clay during that time (while they all stayed silent about Sam Kinison, including George himself).
Whatever the reason, George apparently had a change of heart since I never heard him say anything like THAT again either in interviews or in his act.
In fact, he criticized comedians who tried to "change the world" with their comedy in his book Brain Droppings, saying how he had NO interest in trying to "change the world" himself and how it was in a comedian's best interest if the world kept getting MORE fucked up.
BTW, this wasn't the only time I felt perplexed-and irked-by something George Carlin said. For instance, George did yet another HBO comedy special in the months following the horrific attacks of 911.
This was back during the time when EVERYONE was lining up to kiss the dumb ass of then-president George W. Bush and vilified ANYONE who dared say anything even remotely "negative" about him. (Dixie Chicks, are you listening?)
If there was ANYONE who had the balls to tell Dubya what to go do with himself, it would be George effing Carlin!
Well . . .
George Carlin DID mention Bush during his show but only to PRAISE his dumb ass, saying how he hoped Dubya would do a "good job" so that he'd be voted in again.
Again, this is what George had to say about VOTING: "The difference between me and people who vote is, when I get done jacking off, I'll have something MORE to show for it!"
To be fair, George Carlin DID say how he would defend Andrew "Dice" Clay's right to say whatever he wanted to the death. It's just the OTHER "woke"-sounding shit he said I found so damn baffling!
I mean, this is the SAME type of "woke" PC BS that I see EVERY fucking time I log onto Twitter. You know, the type of shit that can get you BANNED off of "woke" Twitter-or worse-if you dare say even the slightest "joke" about?
Plus the fact I would have NEVER thought in a million fucking years the "woke" mob on fucking Twitter-of ALL places!-would have EVER used George "Rape Can Be Funny!" Carlin to defend their OWN "woke" PC BS!
I swear, George Carlin MUST be rolling around in his fucking grave right about now!
I do still consider myself to be a HUGE fan of the late great George Carlin. But, just like anyone else, including those I am a HUGE fan of, he could still be completely AND totally full-of-SHIT (like, of course, I think he was being in that Larry King interview).
to paraphrase Carlos Santana: My lips DON'T smell like anyone's asshole!
Now I know how all those hippies must've felt when Merle Haggard-another one I'm a HUGE fan of!-came out with that "Okie From Muskogee" song!
Normally I'd say R.I.P. George but that's something ELSE the "woke" mob on-where else!-Twatter have completely AND totally fucked up!
Oh, and here's one MORE thing George Carlin said about so-called political correctness: "Political correctness is America's new form of intolerance disguised as tolerance."
Now just imagine the reaction from the "wokesters" and/or the PCers if a comedian or anyone else came out and said THAT today.
Oh, speaking of Andrew "Dice" Clay, the ONE comedian who DID defend him was Dennis Miller (this was back BEFORE he became a Republican-ass-kisser) who said, and I quote, "Don't we just look for shit to bother ourselves with in this country?"
That we do, Dennis! That we DO!
