A friend who I went to school with passed away twenty-three years ago today.
She died on September 7, 1997. Her name was Stacy Brooks.
She was with her ex-husband while he was driving. I'm pretty sure that he was driving over 100 MPH.
The car slid over 300 feet and it crashed into a truck.
Stacy was killed instantly. Her ex-husband died about five days later.
They left behind two daughters. Meghan and Madison Welch who were raised by Stacy's parents.
I saw a picture of the car Stacy and her ex-husband were in. The car was so demolished that you couldn't even tell that it was a Camaro.
I called Stacy's Mom and offered my condolences. I also visited Stacy's Mom a few times.
I also bought Christmas gifts for Stacy's daughters for about ten years.
I don't know if it was true but somebody told me that Stacy's ex-husband was drunk when they crashed.
The guy told me that Stacy had found another man and her ex-husband couldn't handle it.
I wish that Stacy hadn't agreed to go for a ride with her ex-husband, and I'm certainly glad that their daughters weren't in the car with them.
I hadn't seen Stacy since 1986 and I was very unhappy to learn that she died. May she Rest in Peace.
