Once, I watched with half-closed eyes as you loosened your grip on the steady wheel
while the other hand laced itself with mine, like a mirror of the night sky holding on to the scarlet hues of the setting sun as we both raced towards the horizon.
But as the sky adorned itself with its twilight robe, the silence in the air unveiled the unforeseen distance.
Your gaze remained locked towards the long, winding road
While I began to roll down the stubborn window and breathe in the air as I stared at the vision of unfamiliar landscapes before my venturesome eyes.
Forward we went, but the paths seemed separate.
Hands on the wheel, but the eyes were now looking back.
We're far from where we once started.
But now, lost with no direction, back to the start is where we'd like to be.
Out here in the darkness of the untamed forest, mumbled whispers build a wall between us in our enclosed space.
But maybe when the sun calls on us once more, we'll find our way back.
