A lyrical poem about an insomniac

Sleep

Thou hast deserted me in the moments I yearned for thee

Thou give thyself freely when others shout thy name

Yet refuse me, when I whisper the same

I would sacrifice anything, should thou give thyself to me

Just say the word, and I will make my decree

Hearken unto me, and say, you’ll stay

Come lay with me, till the next day

How much more wilt though torture my wretched soul

Withholding the treasure that I thirst for

If this is a game, then I implore thee

For one night, please play fairly
