Today is an exciting day because i'm on my way to the Fall Fair.
The fair is always a great time, but this time it should be even MORE exciting because i've learned that local farmers recently caught a five ton pig and they are going to be auctioning him off.
I run a small meat and fish shop by the marina with my wife, Sue. Sue will normally be the one to go to fish markets and I tend to go to the farms and slaughterhouses. We are a great team.
So I'm pulling up the driveway now that leads to a 10 acre farm. It's owned by an old widow named Hillary.
She used to have the largest pig farm in town but since her husband passed away she's retired to hosting community events on her land with the help of local politicians and charities.
"Hello, are you here for the Fall Fair?" Asks an older man who is letting cars in and out of the property.
"Yes, the name is Jackson Face."
The man looks over his list and then nods as he writes something down with a pen. "Ok go ahead, parking will be on your right."
I drive up the rest of the way and find a nice spot for my pickup truck between two funeral hearses.
It is tradition in this town that the person who spends the most money must take their winnings home in a hearse.
So I get out of my truck and walk over to the barn. The auction is already underway as I take a seat next to my son's 5th grade science teacher.
"$45,000!" Screams the teacher.
I raise my hand high. "$50,000!"
The auctioneer nearly chokes on his glass of wine. "Ok, $50,000 going once, going twice and... SOLD to Mr. Jackson Face!"
Some young boys drag the five ton pig out of the barn and load it into one of the funeral hearses. They then gave me the keys.
"All yours!" Says one of the boys. "Bring the car back when you get a chance!"
I thank everyone and drive back to my shop.
