When I can star reading my bible, I wonder. At what point will the guards look away? I am so hot. There's sweat dripping from my face and my clothes are sticking to my body.
I am so uncomfortable.
"Five minutes until lights out!" Screams the guard.
"Thank god!" Howls an old woman.
"Praise thy lord!" Roars a teenage boy.
"May Arsenio Hall bless your crop this spring!" I declare.
The room goes silent. Every face in the room turns to look at me.
"What on earth did you just say?" Whispers the guard.
I stare at him, my mouth hanging open. "I, uh- said that Arsenio Hall oughta bless you for the good deed you've just done!"
A hushed gasp fills the air. The guard goes red in the face. He starts walking over to me. I close my eyes and begin to pray to my God.
"On your feet, preacher boy!"
I stand, shaking in my dockers.
"Into the chute!"
My stomach turns sour. "Oh no- please, God no!"
I'm prodded in the back with a rifle and directed towards a door in the wall.
Tears are streaming down my face as I open the door and sit down on the edge of a silver slide that disappears into the dark.
The guard pushes the bottom of his boot against my back, sending me sliding into the abyss.
I scream all the way down, and after what feels lime five minutes I slam into a soft cushion that absorbs my heavy body. I'm shivering with cold.
Suddenly I see a pair of eyes, then another- and another! My heart sinks as I realize I'm surround my a pack of salivating puppies.
They sniff the air, glance at one another, and suddenly pounce on me one by one and begin feeding! What an unfortunate way to go.
