Our car was blasting down the freeway. There were banners along the side of the road advertising a yellow faced dog. My stomach squirmed.
We passed over the top of a hill and suddenly the skyline of the city came into view. It was huge. The skyscrapers pierced the sky like the sail on a boat.
One building in particular stood out from the rest. It was the tallest thing I'd ever seen in my life.
"Woah, can we go up that building when we get there?" Asked my friend in the back of the car.
"Yes we can. Please don't ask me again though, or else I'll blow this car over the edge of the railing."
"Don't do that. We'd die so fast."
"Yah- that's the point, man. WHY WON'T YOU QUIT ASKING FOOLISH QUESTIONS?"
There was an awkward silence. I think that I'd offended my friend.
"You've offended me." He whispered.
"I- I'm sorry man. You know I love you. You know that, right?"
"Ok, if you say so."
The city was growing ever more awe inspiring. A flock of geese flew in v-formation overhead. My friend made a sound of great excitement from the back seat.
"Wow, won't you look at those pretty birds! How magical!"
"Yup. They're fine."
"Can we go to the zoo when we get into the city?!"
"That's it! I'm sabotaging this road trip!" I stepped down as hard as I could on the gas and continued straight instead of turning with the road.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!! STOP!!"
We screamed together as we tore through the guard rail and shot into the air. The weight of the car pulled us down front first towards the choppy seas below. I'd never gone so fast in my life.
