I was watching the news yesterday. The host was talking about the animal kingdom and how 'human beings are the most narcissistic creature to ever walk the earth.'
I thought about that statement for awhile and concluded that I disagreed.
I felt that the most narcissistic creature to walk this earth, throughout all the billions of years that this planet has been here, is the penguin.
After all, what other creature has the audacity to include 'emperor' and 'king', in his name?
It's clear that both these breeds of penguin believed that they were superior to the other penguin breed.
Who is higher up? An emperor or a king? I choose to refer to the penguin in 'male' terms for this because including words like 'emperor' in your name seems like a very guy thing to do.
People may think it's unreasonable to say that the penguin has named himself, but not all penguin breeds had the privilege of choosing their very own name.
For example the 'small penguin', was most likely given his name by the Emperor or the King penguin.
It's difficult to imagine a whole penguin breed deciding to call themselves the 'Small Penguins'.
People may also say that the penguin isn't smart enough to name himself, that people gave him his name, but I disagree with that statement.
Penguins have gone out of their way to conceal their multi-layered levels of intelligence.
Have you never noticed the disproportioned size of his head? The penguin has shrunk the size of his head to give himself a more simple-minded appearance.
He knows that the human often associates big heads with intelligence, so the penguin has done what we humans would not expect and hidden his genius in the smallest sized head possible.
