A simple free verse poem about the calmness found in a graveyard, and the comfort of demise. Hope you enjoy. :) <3

Musty Mania

The moon is silent,

The moon is silent, Why doesn't she speak?

The moon is silent, Why doesn't she speak? She sits there, gazing,

The moon is silent, Why doesn't she speak? She sits there, gazing, Observant orb.

I sit beneath her,

I sit beneath her, On hardened ground.

I sit beneath her, On hardened ground. Musty earth exudes

I sit beneath her, On hardened ground. Musty earth exudes An ultimate rust.

Carved stones,

Carved stones, My sole accomplices.

Carved stones, My sole accomplices. Yet I am the only ghost;

Carved stones, My sole accomplices. Yet I am the only ghost; Fading, forgotten.

Maddening silence,

Maddening silence, Gives way to

Maddening silence, Gives way to The final song.

Maddening silence, Gives way to The final song. Melodious mania.

I'm just a memory,

I'm just a memory, In a photograph.

I'm just a memory, In a photograph. Peeling away.

My starving soul,

My starving soul, Clutching a constant.

My starving soul, Clutching a constant. Carved stones,

My starving soul, Clutching a constant. Carved stones, My sole accomplices.

"That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet." -Emily Dickinson
