Why did the the story of a love so pure end up to be a tragedy ?

A dream I had about Alexander the great some months ago.
I just finished listening to the Trojan War Podcast, and thought a small lament for Achilles, the doomed man, would be in order.
Two poems, one from Achilles to Patroclus
and the other from Patroclus to Achilles.
Beginning letters of every verse spell out their names.
They were said to be lovers.
Don't we all feel weak, powerless and at the mercy of the world around us? Sometimes we all end up bottling emotions inside us when we are supposed to express them? Don't we all hold on to past trauma...
A short story about how rejection from a loved one feels.
Achilles rage after the death of his lover Patroclo.
He's going to revenge him and die doing so because he couldn't stand the guilt of letting him die
