A short story about finding true love... Rewrote it, the ending and middle are different for those who read the first one..

"Have you heard?" She spoke sounding excited, looking at me with joy dancing in her brown eyes. "You can be with him now, shoot your shot." I laughed a little knowing who she meant, but confused on why she thinks I would ever do such a thing.

"Why would I shot my shoot with an engaged man?" She turns to face me, her smile beaming.. "He is no longer engaged my dear, she took off. She left him for some old rich guy, can you believe it?" She said laughing..

You would think I would be overjoyed hearing this news but instead, my heart aches for him. He loved this girl, he looked at her with eyes that could make the angels sing. "That is not a good thing Ellen, he must be devastated." I said staring at her with sad eyes..

"Did you not hear me? He is a single man now. Instead of feeling sorry for him, go find him and comfort him." At her statement I just sit and stare "Sonya, what are you waiting for?" She asks me shaking her head.

"You think too much girl, this is a no-brainer." I smile at my best friend, she was right. As always I was over thinking things. "Alright, do you know where he is?" I asked sounding optimistic

She yelps with excitement "Yes, yes I do, he is at the bar on Eddy Street." After I gathered the information I needed from my best friend Ellen, I headed off to meet him. I was nervous, very very nervous.

I walk into the bar, my eyes scanning the room. That is when I saw him. I gaped openly as I observed his sharp jaw, chin, and cheekbones. His appearance alone was seductive. As if God had molded him just to intoxicate me. The brown eyes of the man were full of intensity.

I bit my lip, how could I start a conversation with him now? He was already deep in conversation with a guy I have never seen. He looked down for a moment, pouring himself a drink and bringing the alcohol to his lips. I could not just stand here knowing he is breaking, so I gathered my courage and went over to his table.

The closer I got to him the more my nerves started to defy me. Then in that instant he turned and caught my eye; before I could turn away with shyness a genuine grin spread across his face and that was enough for me to sit down next to him.. "Having a good evening?" I asked smiling my eyes glued to him.

Aidan gives me a sad smile before answering my question. "It is a small town, I am sure everyone is talking about me." He says sounding so sad it made my chest tighten. "Aidan, I am sorry." Was all I could manage to say to him in this moment.

"I don't need that sweetheart, I do not need your pity." He said smiling at me. His heart was broken, I am sure the last thing he needed was me, his sisters best friend feeling sorry for him. His friend in attempt to keep the conversation lighter offers me something to drink.

I look at Aidan first before answering the question as if seeking his approval. "You do not need my approval Bubbles I can see you've grown up now." He starts laughing because he used the nickname he had for me since I was a little girl. I used to love it when he called me that until I noticed him.

Until I started developing feelings for him. "Do not call me that." I state looking at him trying my hardest to sound serious, which made him laugh even more. "Bubbles?" The friend asks, sounding curious.

I am finally noticing him, it is like I am seeing him for the first time. I guess I was too engulfed in Aidan to really see him. "I am Rex by the way." He introduces himself. It is now registering to me that I have been having a conversation with a stranger at the table.

"Oh yea, sorry men, this is Sonya, my little sisters best friend." Aidan finally introduces me. His friend extends a hand to me and I take hold of it. It was like lightning the moment our fingers touched..

He was handsome from the depth of his eyes to the gentle expressions of his voice and to the touch of his hand upon my own. He wore a loose black silk shirt with leather cuffs and black trousers. He even got better the more I looked at him.

I could see the flecks of silver in his eyes. He had distinct cheekbones and an angular jaw, his tan skin made him look devilishly handsome. When he noticed me staring he just smiles and then he lets go of my hand sending a cold chill down my spine. "You were telling me about bubbles, Aidan." He says

"Right, his little firefly was obsessed with bubbles growing up. Every time she came over, she would ask me to blow bubbles for her and Ellen." He tells his friend the stories looking happier by the second. "So now, she has graduated from Bubbles to Firefly?" He looks at Aidan amused.

"Not until now I yes." Aidan responds. "Why am I firefly?" I ask him He smiles and takes another sip of his drink. "Because you beat up that creep who tried to put his hands on my sister." I stare at him in shock

"You know about that?" I ask smiling, feeling great about myself. "Yea, she came home laughing and talking about your super cool combat moves." I just smile at that.. "So about the drink, you want a some?" Rex offers me again.

"Yes please." I respond my eyes scanning him hungrily. "And then maybe you can share with us how you learned those fighting skills." He says that as he pours me a drink smirking up at me. "She went to military school." Aidan responds on my behalf.

"Oh, so you're in the army?" He asks looking worried which made me laugh. "No, I just did the training." I respond. "Can people do that?" He asks with raised eyebrows. "Her dad is Chief of Staff." Aidan responds for me again.

Rex is now looking very intrigued. "Enough about me, how about you Rex. What do you do? I ask. "I am a web designer." He responds. "That is so cool." I say smiling at him with probably dreamy eyes.

"Well, I am doing nothing if you were curious." Aidan interrupts. "oh right, Aidan what are you up to?" I ask him "It doesn't matter, it is not like you care." He responds angrily at me

"Dude be nice, what is the problem." Rex defends me, which made me smile up at him. "I do not have time for this, if you two want to flirt, go ahead I will excuse myself." He sounded even more furious this time, he then gets up and leaves.

I start to stand so I can run after him when I felt a hand stop me. "Please don't do that." Rex says pleadingly.. I stare at him wondering why he wants me to stay

"He is going through hell right now, everything, no matter how little has been setting off his temper. So please, sit down, give him some air." The guy pleads with me, so I do as he says.. "Do you think he will be alright?" I ask him.

"Honestly, he is a tough guy so don't worry about him." He assures me. I can't not worry about Aidan, it is impossible for me. "It is hard not to worry." I say to him.

"You really care about him, don't you?" He asked me that with such emotion that I stare in his eyes. "I mean, I have known the guy my whole life. I can't stand seeing him hurt." I said looking in the direction Aidan went.

"He will be fine, trust me. Right now I wanna get to know more about you." He says taking my hand in his, instantly making me lose my train of thoughts. In this moment, right now, if I believed in magic I would have said I have been spelled.

This was a person I suddenly wanted to know more than I had ever felt before. I never thought in my 22 years that I would find a man that would make me forget Aidan, A man that could instantly capture all of my attention. In a bar full of people, I only see him

As if reading my mind "I feel it too." Those were his words starting our forever.. MY SOULMATE
