My entry for the poetry battles!
Let me know what you thought.
Special thanks to the one who made me think of this opening sentence! (you know who you are ;3)

Laughingstock

Here comes a knock

Here comes a knock a trembling

Here comes a knock a trembling A S H O C K

Reborn into the new L A U G H I N G S T O C K

Here I am lustlessly laying in the S C R A T C H Y S A N D

Not one of them reaching out A H E L P F U L H A N D

M U D D Y E Y E S block my sight

C O N T E M P L A T I N G the damage from that height

As I try to W I P E A W A Y the sadness in my tears

S I C K E N E D by the laughing in my ears

My world T W I R L I N G round and round

S T U C K at the floor of the playground

I look up to the D R E A D F U L S W I N G

R E M E M B E R I N G the fateful fling

H I C C U P S block my voice

All my 'friends' simply R E J O I C E

S H O C K fills their eyes

As they realize these are C R I E S

F A S T E R they couldn't run

But my pain had A L R E A D Y B E G U N

The sensation of the sand takes over M Y M I N D

As I wonder why they did an act S O U N K I N D

Backstory: (for those who are intrigued)

Backstory: (for those who are intrigued) When I thought of childhood stories, I wasn't sure what to pick.

Backstory: (for those who are intrigued) When I thought of childhood stories, I wasn't sure what to pick. I chose this memory, as I feel like this is a very important one for me, even with the sadness hidden behind it.

The poem is based on a childhood memory of mine.

But, the rest of the class wouldn't have it.

But, the rest of the class wouldn't have it. It was either them, or her.

It was weird, but since I had already been bullied before, I took it.

It was weird, but since I had already been bullied before, I took it. One day we were playing outside, they decided to pull a prank on me, some sort of payback. I was on the swing, and they starting turning my seat continuously in one direction (then when they let go after, it turns back really fast)

I told them I didn't like what they were doing, but they still continued.

I told them I didn't like what they were doing, but they still continued. When they let go of it, I wasn't able to hold my balance and I fell off, hurting myself.

I told them I didn't like what they were doing, but they still continued. When they let go of it, I wasn't able to hold my balance and I fell off, hurting myself. When I was on the floor, I started crying.

They somehow did not notice and thought I was laughing about it, like they were.

They somehow did not notice and thought I was laughing about it, like they were. When they realized what had really happened, they took off. This was just a simple start of the complicated relationship I had with my class, but this was a breaking point for me.

From that day onwards, I decided to step up for myself more and stand behind what I thought was right.
