A poem about being deceived.
Feedback is always much appreciated!

Game of Pretend

Her eyes twinkled bright

Her eyes twinkled bright like a moon in twilight

Her hair shimmered

Her hair shimmered like water in the night

She shone as if she was a star

She shone as if she was a star spreading her uplifting smile far and broad

She laughed in purest melody

She laughed in purest melody not once seeming flawed

She pulled people to her

She pulled people to her like honey does bees

She shared her story

She shared her story like a writer

She shared her story like a writer with such ease

She was open

She was open as if she was the sky

She was calming

She was calming like an herbal tea

She danced endlessly

She danced endlessly as if she knew ballet

She felt free

She felt free like a fish in the sea

She loved playing games

She loved playing games like a clown does jokes

Life was her chess board

Life was her chess board keeping us all in her ropes

Her pure smile hid a conniving one

Her pure smile hid a conniving one and all her dearest were deceived

She was pulling the strings secretly

She was pulling the strings secretly all the while grinning of what she'd achieved

An angel in disguise

An angel in disguise like a wolf in sheep's clothing

She underestimated her pawns however

She underestimated her pawns however her doom was soon approaching

She hadn't realized this one thing;

She hadn't realized this one thing; all things have a beginning and an end

No matter what tricks she had up her sleeve

No matter what tricks she had up her sleeve it was time for the finale of her game of pretend

She had one fundamental flaw

She had one fundamental flaw as she loved to tattle tales

Her 'pets' being her favorite topic

Her 'pets' being her favorite topic she forgets to leave out some crucial details

She had no idea of her mistakes

She had no idea of her mistakes as her pawns were in for a good show

They followed her one fateful day

They followed her one fateful day shocking truths made it to their front row

She felt no shame but some form of regret

She felt no shame but some form of regret as all those closest became farest away

All she wanted was to save her skin

All she wanted was to save her skin as her dreams experienced rapid decay

She now roams the streets all alone

She now roams the streets all alone still cursing her victims for their betrayal

She continued to think she was in the right

She continued to think she was in the right not once reflecting on her sad portrayal

Although she tasted like cotton candy

Although she tasted like cotton candy she was everything but sweet

And thus looking back to this ordeal

And thus looking back to this ordeal I'm glad she met her defeat
