Thank You, Mr. President.

by wethedreamers

Thank you, Mr. President. It's been a hell of a ride. Eight long years of worry and weary... My goodness, you must be tired.

Thank you, Mr. President for your admirable stance of class. For you soldiered on when ignorance fought through with hate so very crass.

Thank you, Mr. President, for humility and home. You exude a ray of warmth that I feel deep in my bones.

Thank you, Mr. President, even though I'm aware that you weren't perfect. But thanks for doing the best that you could with all that you were given.

Thank you, Mr. President, for your children and wife. Their loveliness has so surpassed the ugliness of time.

Thank you, Mr. President, for your semblance of compassion. A voice of reason in many a mess, that we'll be okay no matter what happens.

Thank you, Mr. President, for your dignity to rise above. "When they go low, we go high." And up... and up... and up.

Thank you, Mr. President, for humor, heart, and grace. History will be kind to you at the end of our days.

And yes, thank you, Mr. Vice President. I did not forget. President Dad. Uncle Joe. You're family in my head.

And finally, thank you, Mr. President, for giving us chances. Those with darker skin, different religion, sexual orientation, every gender. We thank you.

I will not forget you. I will not be afraid. From my own personal standpoint...I am better since you came. Thank you. I will miss you.

@teenauthor Thank you so, so much! I'm so happy it made you smile; but don't cry! He's going to go get some much needed and well-deserved rest with the resounding known fact that he was loved dearly. :)

@LostInMyDreams Aw, thank you so much! I agree, and I hope he feels the circle of love that surrounds him from the people who wish him well as he moves forward, and that there will always be an outpouring of love and light toward him. "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." :)

@bernardtwindwil Thank you so much! I agree! I realized underneath the mess and outrage of the overall political climate that I was ignoring the feeling that regardless of the happenstances of the future, I was really going to miss this president; not only as a president, but as a person, a husband, and a father. I'm very proud of him and the stones of which he carved. I think we were very blessed to have him and I wanted to acknowledge that. Thank you again for liking it! :)

That was so beautiful!! I had tears in my eyes. I wish he could read this somehow. It would be great for him to know how much we appreciate him and everything he has done. Amazing job! 😥
