do we build our walls to keep people out or to hold ourselves in.

In a room full of people i become the paper that covers them

The people that surround me try to open up I just turn to brick

Iv built my walls to be tall To be thick

Some days I want to collapse into a pile of rubble and dust

Other days my bricks are held together with love and trust

Some walls are painted red with power and lust

Others black tarnished with darkness and distrust

I have only one wall that I built to be thin It has one small window

Only a select few I allow to peer in

My arms are tired My hands are sore After all these years of building walls

i’ve only just realised There are no doors
