Poem fight- Trees Surround

Trees Surround

The green trunk plants surround me,

The green trunk plants surround me, My feathers bristle with anticipation:

The green trunk plants surround me, My feathers bristle with anticipation: I need to get out of here.

The green trunk plants surround me, My feathers bristle with anticipation: I need to get out of here. I start to walk but hurriedly hop onto my other clawed foot,

The green trunk plants surround me, My feathers bristle with anticipation: I need to get out of here. I start to walk but hurriedly hop onto my other clawed foot, Pain shooting up my injured leg.

I look around as best I can, As my eyesight isn't the best from a fight with another bird.

I look around as best I can, As my eyesight isn't the best from a fight with another bird. The trees(?) are so well etched in, I can't tell if it's indoors or outdoors.

I look around as best I can, As my eyesight isn't the best from a fight with another bird. The trees(?) are so well etched in, I can't tell if it's indoors or outdoors. The fog around me knows its walls that are so etched of trees, you can't notice it even with advanced sight from a bird like me.

The fog around me knows its walls that are so etched of trees, you can't notice it even with advanced sight from a bird like me. I flap my wings and fly up as high as I can with a broken leg.

I look around and notice patches of light. They had to come from somewhere.

I look around and notice patches of light. They had to come from somewhere. I zipped over there and landed with slight discomfort as I peered up at the- Well, it definitely wasn't the sky.

I look around and notice patches of light. They had to come from somewhere. I zipped over there and landed with slight discomfort as I peered up at the- Well, it definitely wasn't the sky. I titled my head to see if I could get a better view but no luck. I went over to other patches of light and got the same result. Everything was already black

and white, only some colors I could recognize.

and white, only some colors I could recognize. A sound of, what did giants call it? Music? The music was upbeat but pleasant; soft but fast.

and white, only some colors I could recognize. A sound of, what did giants call it? Music? The music was upbeat but pleasant; soft but fast. Maybe if I could find the music, I can get out of this. I fluttered all around, staying in the air as I approached every place I heard it, trying to find where it was coming from. It continued:

1. Look at patches of light and inspect the not sky. 2. Search for the music and openings. 3. Try not to hurt leg too much. 4. Don't trust fog.

Trapped as I may,

Trapped as I may, I could not find the exit with so much disarray.

Trapped as I may, I could not find the exit with so much disarray. The trees grew so close together,

Trapped as I may, I could not find the exit with so much disarray. The trees grew so close together, So close, I couldn't see the walls behind it,

Trapped as I may, I could not find the exit with so much disarray. The trees grew so close together, So close, I couldn't see the walls behind it, Ever black as night and cold as December.

The lights did not help,

The lights did not help, For there were no lights that hung from the not sky.

The lights did not help, For there were no lights that hung from the not sky. The light filtered in,

The lights did not help, For there were no lights that hung from the not sky. The light filtered in, But I could not find it's hidden place,

The lights did not help, For there were no lights that hung from the not sky. The light filtered in, But I could not find it's hidden place, As I fluttered back and forth in this cluttered maze.

My eyesight was better than giants, of course,

My eyesight was better than giants, of course, But I could not find what I was looking for.

My eyesight was better than giants, of course, But I could not find what I was looking for. Surrounded and surrounded,

My eyesight was better than giants, of course, But I could not find what I was looking for. Surrounded and surrounded, There I was,

My eyesight was better than giants, of course, But I could not find what I was looking for. Surrounded and surrounded, There I was, Trying to find a way out of this no end run.

Trapped,

Trapped, In this place,

Trapped, In this place, Surrounded by trees and walls of such,

Trapped, In this place, Surrounded by trees and walls of such, The not sky a color of gray,

Trapped, In this place, Surrounded by trees and walls of such, The not sky a color of gray, As the fog wrapped around me with the smell of decay.

My heart raced in my tiny body,

My heart raced in my tiny body, This search becoming more than a hobby,

My heart raced in my tiny body, This search becoming more than a hobby, My foot throbbing with every jump and landing,

My heart raced in my tiny body, This search becoming more than a hobby, My foot throbbing with every jump and landing, Trying the find my place in this weird colored place of hay,

My heart raced in my tiny body, This search becoming more than a hobby, My foot throbbing with every jump and landing, Trying the find my place in this weird colored place of hay, Trying to find the music to lead me out.

Back and forth I fly,

Back and forth I fly, Trying to find my way outside.

Back and forth I fly, Trying to find my way outside. The trees seem endless,

Back and forth I fly, Trying to find my way outside. The trees seem endless, The light fading as darkness settles in,

Back and forth I fly, Trying to find my way outside. The trees seem endless, The light fading as darkness settles in, Heart racing,

Back and forth I fly, Trying to find my way outside. The trees seem endless, The light fading as darkness settles in, Heart racing, As all I know comes to an end.

My leg,

My leg, Hurts as it does,

My leg, Hurts as it does, I stand up shakily with more than a trip,

My leg, Hurts as it does, I stand up shakily with more than a trip, As I look around at the dark but more light filled trap.

My leg, Hurts as it does, I stand up shakily with more than a trip, As I look around at the dark but more light filled trap. I search and search,

My leg, Hurts as it does, I stand up shakily with more than a trip, As I look around at the dark but more light filled trap. I search and search, But still find no exit.

If a bird such as I,

If a bird such as I, Were to be diagnosed as giants were,

If a bird such as I, Were to be diagnosed as giants were, Would this be the 'nervous and rising emotion' they feel?

If a bird such as I, Were to be diagnosed as giants were, Would this be the 'nervous and rising emotion' they feel? Their.. 'anxiety'?

If a bird such as I, Were to be diagnosed as giants were, Would this be the 'nervous and rising emotion' they feel? Their.. 'anxiety'? Yes.. Yes, this is what I felt.

Trapped in here,

Trapped in here, With no way out,

Trapped in here, With no way out, Sound giving me a tease as I try to find my way to it,

Trapped in here, With no way out, Sound giving me a tease as I try to find my way to it, The light basking the places it glowed,

Trapped in here, With no way out, Sound giving me a tease as I try to find my way to it, The light basking the places it glowed, Filling me with upset feelings,

Trapped in here, With no way out, Sound giving me a tease as I try to find my way to it, The light basking the places it glowed, Filling me with upset feelings, As those lights didn't help at all.

The more I searched,

The more I searched, The more upset I got.

The more I searched, The more upset I got. Why couldn't I find my way out,

The more I searched, The more upset I got. Why couldn't I find my way out, Teasing me with the smell of apricot?

The more I searched, The more upset I got. Why couldn't I find my way out, Teasing me with the smell of apricot? But try as I might,

The more I searched, The more upset I got. Why couldn't I find my way out, Teasing me with the smell of apricot? But try as I might, I am left stuck here in my plight.

I am a bird, yes it's true,

I am a bird, yes it's true, I know many words, simple though they be,

I am a bird, yes it's true, I know many words, simple though they be, As I have heard from the giants who carry these words in their jaws of bone,

I am a bird, yes it's true, I know many words, simple though they be, As I have heard from the giants who carry these words in their jaws of bone, Now stuck in a place of stone,

I am a bird, yes it's true, I know many words, simple though they be, As I have heard from the giants who carry these words in their jaws of bone, Now stuck in a place of stone, Will I ever find my way back home?
