I'M A COLLECTOR (& WHY I COLLECT)
I've been collecting stuff since I was a kid. Some stuff I collect just for my own pleasure while other stuff I collect with the hope it will someday go up in value. Here are things I collect.
RECORD ALBUMS (VINYL)
I've been collecting albums since the 70s. I would say I have roughly 300-400 record albums in my collection. I have records that date back to the 50s & 60s with the Beatles & Jerry Lee Lewis.
I think this should come as no surprise with me being a writer and all.
COMIC BOOKS (& GRAPHIC NOVELS)
I read comic books as a kid before they became graphic novels back when they cost around 35-40 cents. I still collect older comics today & newer graphic novels like Hack/Slash & Bomb Queen.
STAR WARS (& OTHER) ACTION FIGURES
Again, this should be self-explanatory with me being such a huge Star Wars fan & all. I do occasionally collect other figures besides Star Wars, but, of course, it's mostly Star Wars figures.
HOT WHEELS (& MATCHBOX) CARS
I have bags and bags and plastic containers filled with Hot Wheels (and Matchbox) cars.
I bought VHS tapes even after they began going out of favor & more & more people were switching over to DVD. I think most VHS tapes are worth little if anything except, of course, for the rarest.
I started collecting stamps a few years ago. Truthfully, I don't know very much about the "value" of a lot of stamps, though, as with other collectibles, the rarer stamps can be worth thousands.
Seeing as how Halloween is my favorite holiday, it probably comes as NO surprise I collect Halloween "merch", which is mostly Halloween knick-knacks I pick up at places like Dollar General.
I've got Playboy's that date all the way to the 60s. Unfortunately, I do not have the very first issue of Playboy, the one with Marilyn Monroe on the cover, which is said to be the most valuable.
I'm not a "fan" of baseball. In truth, I find the game rather boring. But I do collect the cards since at least some of them can be worth quite of bit of moo-lah.
MAGIC THE GATHERING CARDS
Like with baseball cards, I have not played Magic the Gathering nor do I intend to. But, again, like with baseball cards, I've heard that at least some of these cards can be worth money.
I collect U.S. coins along with coins from other countries.
GUITARS AND AMPS
I have an 80s model Fender Stratocaster, a Gibson Challenger & a Fender acoustic along with a Peavey Audition 20 & Stereo Chorus 400 amps. I also had an Aria Pro II Knight Warrior my father has.
I don't collect REAL skulls since that WOULD be creepy, at least for me. I collect "toy" skulls, though some of the ones I've collected, I admit, do look surprisingly-and eerily-realistic.
I collect dreamcatchers because I like the way they look.
OLD TOYS THAT REMIND ME OF MY CHILDHOOD
I don't collect these toys to play with them, of course. They just remind me of "happier" times in my childhood.
So what does anyone else collect?
Let me know in the "comments" section!
