An Ode To Robert James Waller

by tbanarchy

Robert James Waller was the author of the immense romantic bestseller The Bridges Of Madison County.

Published in 1992, the book stayed on the bestseller lists for a whopping three years and has since sold over twelve MILLION copies worldwide.

It was also made into a hit movie starring Clint Eastwood-who also directed it-and Meryl Streep. It has also been turned into a musical.

But, even though it was popular with readers, critics largely panned The Bridges Of Madison Country (along with Waller's subsequent books), calling TBOMC, among other things, sappy and cliche-laden.

I admit, I have not yet read The Bridges Of Madison County (nor have I seen the movie). But I did read an excerpt from Waller's third novel Border Music that was excerpted in-where else!-Playboy magazine.

And, to be brutally honest, if Waller HADN'T been a best-selling author, I doubt very seriously his "work" would have been featured in Playboy. (This was, of course, years before PB became dumbed-down and "woke".)

Now, to be fair, my work would probably not be featured in Playboy either, especially NOT today given how "politically correct" the mag has gotten.

So why am I writing an "ode" to Robert James Waller here, you might be asking yourself? Well, for one, Waller was "middle-aged" when he published The Bridges Of Madison County (and, of course, made MORE money than I'm sure he knew what to do with!).

His story has kept inspiring me to keep on with my own writing. I myself would LOVE to write a book as popular as The Bridges Of Madison County (and-of course!-make MORE money than I would know what to do with!).

Of course, with me it would be more like 50 Shades Of Grey than TBOMC since my books are WAY more, shall we say, dirtier than Waller's books!

Robert James Waller-who was also a photographer, musician and teacher-passed away in 2017. (R.I.P. Robert!)

Again, here's my Amazon author page-or rather the page of my nom de plume Angel Ray-for anyone who is interested in seeing what type of "dirty" stuff that I write: http://amazon.com/author/angelray

Enjoy, you pervs!
