My Picks for the 9th Annual Crunchies Awards!

by sydney

Robinhood

For the Best New Startup Award. Why? They're changing one of the most archaic and exclusive industries and making it accessible to the masses.

Slack

For Best Overall Startup. I can't live without Slack. I'm on Slack only second to Pencil. I'm on Slack more than I'm on Facebook.

Zenefits

Fastest Rising Startup. These guys have been taking over the world it seems like. Just yesterday they were this tiny no name.....

Tesla Over-the-Air Autopilot

For Best Technology Achievement. Self driving cars are coming. This is the first step for a product for consumers.

Messenger

Best Mobile App. This thing has come SO far. I can't believe all the things it can do now......And with Facebook M too.....

Sphero BB-8

Best Hardware. It's just adorable. Nothing else to it.

Laura Weidman Powers, Code2040

Include Diversity Award. After meeting a few students, I've been amazed by the impact they've had!

Google.org

Biggest Social Impact. It's hard to top Google here. They donate $100M in grants, 80k man hours, and $1B in products to noble causes.

Anne Wojcicki

Founder of the Year. This was a hard one, but I love how quickly 23andMe has grown. The tech and impact is and will be groundbreaking.

Gil Penchina

Angel Investor of the Year. Gil is extremely active and shares great advice. He's had some big wins but that doesn't stop him from continuing to help companies in any way he can.

Mary Meeker

VC of the Year. At KPCB, Mary's got so much experience and has really watched tech evolve. She's played a role in many companies that are huge today.

Mark Zuckerberg

CEO of the Year. Mark just never seems to plateau. He picks the right companies to acquire, he continues to build things at the cutting edge of innovation, and he's a darling with the press.

Enjoy the Crunchies tonight :)
