There is a person that lit up your world.
You looked at them like they were the sun. You smiled when they rose, your smile faded with the sunset.
There is a person that made your heart beat faster.
Their smile, their eyes, the freckles on their nose, the scar from a childhood accident that made you laugh.
There is a person you wouldn't let go.
Everything about them made you hold on, made you fight for them, because you believed they were worth fighting for. That you were worth fighting for.
Yet they let go of you.
You tell them you love them. They tell you they don't feel the same way. Your hands shake, no idea what you did. They explain. You don't understand.
Years later, it still haunts you.
You think about the person who broke you. The one that made you think you couldn't be loved. You'd never be loved.
And so you learn to let go.
You realize you don't deserve it. You don't deserve this torture. You let go, because they don't deserve you.
You deserve happiness.
You will learn to love again. It isn't over.
And that is all.
