I know. I know how hard it is.
I know. I know how hard it is. I know how hard it is to love yourself.
I know. I know how hard it is. I know how hard it is to love yourself. I know how easy it is to say “just love yourself.”
I know how you squirm inside when you near those words.
I know how you die a little bit more When someone says that no one else Will love you until you love yourself.
I know what it feels like to hear that.
They don’t mean it to be hurtful. (at least I don’t think they do) But it is. I know. I know.
But it is also a lie.
You can be loved even if you don’t love yourself.
I know that’s what you hope for. What you need. I need it also.
I know what you see in the mirror. Flaws. I see them too. (My own, not yours!)
You think that everyone else sees them as well. Some might, but there are some who don’t. They see what you can’t.
They see your tenderness, Your capacity to love, And they want to know you. They want to love you.
Even if you don’t love yourself.
Sometimes the only way to learn to love yourself Is to see love in someone else’s eyes. Look for it. Bask in it. Let it flow over you and inside you.
Let that feeling show you that you are lovable. Then you can learn to love yourself.
