The cat sat beneath the chair Listening to birds song in the air

Cheshire Glance

The cat sat beneath the chair

Listening to birds song in the air

A tweet, a twirl, a meow, a squirrel

Warning beckons the Blue Jays whirl

The grass is long, crass and green

The cat looks back and dares to dream

Of a kitchen with some ivory cream

While the hawk screeched a scream

The wind blows cold as leaves turn brown

As people flock unto the town

Fearing that they may see a clown

The busybodies convey a frown

The dogs are barking from afar

The listening cat is stuck like tar

Underneath an ivory car

Waiting to hear the door ajar

He sits and waits ever so still

Amidst the garden, between the dill

For the time a vole, a mole, a hill

Creeping twofold to a kill

The cat never got the chance

Leaping towards happenstance

But one day, he will learn to dance

A wayward waltz, a cheshire glance
