Why do I boondoggle when my butterflies run on batteries?
Life is a kaleidoscope of swirling sensations,
Life is a kaleidoscope of swirling sensations, a menagerie of mazes that ooze dreams into shadows.
I lie in this necropolis of nulled nightmares and dead daydreams
I lie in this necropolis of nulled nightmares and dead daydreams as nightfall reclaims my heart.
Where is home?
The stars smile from the sky like chandeliers,
The stars smile from the sky like chandeliers, ricocheting mellifluous melodies
The stars smile from the sky like chandeliers, ricocheting mellifluous melodies like a sweetener of pitter-patter petrichor.
They paint some walls in a carnival of colours,
They paint some walls in a carnival of colours, an iridescent inferno of gushing gold in a sea of sunshine.
Why does the starlight highlight these untaken paths?
Why does the starlight highlight these untaken paths? It’s as if I’m reminded of something that I’ve forgotten,
but never knew.
(Aside) Hey, again, Commaful! So, this piece was an interesting and fun one for me to write! :D It reminds me of some of my older pieces, but I did want to do some things that some of you like from some of my more recent pieces.
So, I feel like this piece might be a bit abstract in its meaning. Short version: it's about life. Long version: it's about someone lying as the night falls and the stars come out, highlighting their life (in their mind) as if it was a labyrinth of paths, showing a longing for what didn't happen, hence the title.
I hope that came across and that the tone is neither positive nor negative, as I wanted this piece to deal more with the reflecting upon of life and the question of 'what if' without expressing dissatisfaction for the current life that the narrator has.
If it was too hard to understand, do not feel too shy in letting me know. Constructive criticism is appreciated! :) I do hope the imagery and words did evoke plenty of emotions, though!
Thank you all for reading, and take good care! Always write! <3
