Racism feels like a weird amalgamation of emotions hard to express, something that feels akin to shame. It is often a silent and internal battle that many people of colour suffer in a world that does not recognise it's systemic racial injustice.

I hoped to write this in a relatable way for anyone who reads it.

A work in progress.

Shame

We walk

We walk In placid neutrality

We walk In placid neutrality None shall see, none shall know

We walk In placid neutrality None shall see, none shall know With warm smiles

We walk In placid neutrality None shall see, none shall know With warm smiles In sunshine, rain or snow

We walk In placid neutrality None shall see, none shall know With warm smiles In sunshine, rain or snow About our day we go.

We burn

We burn Embers sparked in young minds

We burn Embers sparked in young minds Turn to flames

We burn Embers sparked in young minds Turn to flames as we walk

We burn Embers sparked in young minds Turn to flames as we walk Little did you see, little did you know

We burn Embers sparked in young minds Turn to flames as we walk Little did you see, little did you know The fire seals our skin

We burn Embers sparked in young minds Turn to flames as we walk Little did you see, little did you know The fire seals our skin Blisters our soul

We burn Embers sparked in young minds Turn to flames as we walk Little did you see, little did you know The fire seals our skin Blisters our soul As we burn

And about our day we go.
