A poem about love and decay. And sandcastles!

Sandcastles

Our hearts are sandcastles

Our hearts are sandcastles that we build to house

Our hearts are sandcastles that we build to house our dreams.

Kicked down by others,

Kicked down by others, or worn down by time

Kicked down by others, or worn down by time and tides–

we build and rebuild

we build and rebuild sifting sand and molding

we build and rebuild sifting sand and molding turrets with damp fingers

trying to capture a feeling,

trying to capture a memory,

trying to capture a person–

inside a fragile structure

inside a fragile structure that starts falling

inside a fragile structure that starts falling even as it’s being built.
