First it appeared behind the mountains and slowly crept up and towered above the valley below. It was like a torchlight being switched on, like a radiator sending heat into the world below.
Then it slowly peeked its head out from the cotton white clouds as it continued on its travel around the globe.
It was a gift for the crops that were burning with desire for even a few seconds of the heat after the dreadful rain that pounded down onto the ground like bullets the night before.
It was a curse, however, for the insects and creepy crawlies that scattered across the ground, searching for a shadow. For a shelter.
For a moment, it lingered in the clouds, creeping through the curtains of windows, notifying the still sleeping inhabitants that it was time to wake up.
The shower of light slowly consumed the whole mountain range and no valley could hide from it. Even the snow on the peaks began to melt at the glorifying sight of the beauty and heat itself.
The crops reached their arms out to absorb as much of the light as they could. The creepy crawlies scurried across the ground and hid in any shadows that they could find.
The people opened their eyes and slowly life returned to the valley for another day. And the sun itself continued on its journey across the world.
Waking people up, making the plants smile and chasing the creepy crawlies around.
And at the end of the day it will return to its shelter behind the towering mountains for a night of a well deserved rest.
Until tomorrow the sun called out and allowed its sibling, the moon to make an appearance in the star scattered skies for the night.
