A shatter and a clatter. And then the shrill noise filling their ears. And then darkness.
An army of shadows lurks around the corner, watching their prey with hungry looks, shifting their claws.
Their footsteps are like the claws of death, creeping closer and closer towards the figure. But they don't pounce.
Slowly, the figure turns around and the shadows emerge from the corner and freeze midway as they stare at the mystery before them.
Through the million thoughts scurrying aroumd them, one shines brighter than the rest. How is the figure alive.
Quickly, the shadows scurry away into the darkness which they call home as the figure begins to fade away.
Beep. Beep. Beep. The machines were working, the nurses were running around and the sterile smell of a hospital reached the patient's nose. Which meant one thing.
The car crash may have scarred the patient physically, but it didn't take away their life. And that was enough for the patient to wake up.
Welcome back their mind said as it began to function properly again.
