Cocoon

by rose4112

Smile

Lie while you can

Hold back the tears

Put on the show of your life.

But it will all come crashing down

The depression will grip you by the throat

The anxiety will weigh on your chest and crush your lungs

The tears will burn trails into your cheeks.

And you'll shed another layer of your soul.

Like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

Maybe not quite as gracefully.

But just as beautifully
