Postcards

by ronnie

Hold me tight and breathe me in

Choke on what once was and what could've been

Never saying another word

Sending blank postcards to let me know where you were

And I sit here eating alphabet soup

Trying to find the words to say at group

Because I've been going here for two months now

And I've never spoken

Because I haven't learned how to speak

without slurring my words and not feeling broken

Your blank postcards haunt me

They scream at me in the middle of the night like a banshee

And I read these blank postcards when I can't sleep

Feeling your finger prints lingering on them

Wishing I could send them back with the words I couldn't say

But "return to sender" doesn't exist in your case
