Michael was not sure if what he heard was correct.
Deciding he should interject and ask what his friend is getting at, he shot his right hand out to signal "wait."
What do you mean the Earth is flat? It's clearly round.
Think about it Michael, have you ever seen the Earth yourself?
So, how do you know it's round?
Floored, he stared at his friend. As pressure joined the huddle, no rebuttal came. Then like plates shifting, it clicked.
How do you know the Earth is flat?
Easy. We're walking in a straight line, not a curved one.
The boys walked on. Michael played with this new perspective in his head.
His friend, despite having never seen a globe, reached his own conclusion. Why verify the other side, when there's enough proof on the ground we walk?
