Walking down the street, little Alyssa swung her arms in glee.
A smile spread across her face as she thought, "No girl could be as happy as me!"
Her mother had marked her as one inch taller than the year before!
"Mom said I am growing and getting prettier, more and more!"
Walking into class, budding Alyssa stole every guy's attention.
She couldn't hide a smile when Mark gave prom a mention!
Mark picked her up and showed her the time of her life!
"He's the one," she thought as she pictured cutting the cake with their knife.
Walking into the office, Mrs. Alyssa gave Clide a coy look. No big crime.
She smiled as he wandered over and asked if she'd like to hang out some time.
Clide was with her the next night, their meeting Alyssa did hide.
After they were through she mentioned, "I must go back to Mark's side."
Walking into the bedroom smiling, Mrs. Alyssa gave Mark a kiss.
However Mark knew, something was amiss.
"I can't lay to next to you ever again," Mark said without a sign of remorse.
Alyssa knew her promiscuity had caused their divorce.
Walking into the bar, wild and free, Alyssa smiled at any suitor that caught her eye.
Before long it became a habit, and time passed her by.
"I used to make head turns," Alyssa told her few friends still around.
"Where did the years go when my beauty was still sound?"
Walking with them, Alyssa's frown was accompanied by wrinkles and gray.
A disease called aging allowed her beauty to fade.
