A short poem about a mother’s intuition for her daughter and how no one knows a daughter like a mother does.

This young girl is stuck on an island waiting for a lover/savior with a boat, and eventually one shows up, but after awhile she gets thrown overboard and lands back on the same island. It’s repeated several times before she realizes the mainland is where she will truly find herself.

I looked into the ocean Thought I could my find my savior But he was at the bottom Thought I could maybe save him

So I swam down to the bottom Lifeless underwater Then I saw a green light But it was just my mother

Telling me to come back To get off my island And make it to the mainland Where there were no more lovers

I thought if I’m here Then maybe I’d be able to find myself My dear She knows me well and never tells a tale

She told me I was worth it Hard to admit that Smiled and he agreed But then she pushed him to the surface I guess that he deserved it

And She said darling If I’m here Then maybe you’d be able to find yourself My dear I know you well and never tell a tale
