Todoroki's asks a certain someone for advice on his crush on Bakugo....

Embers 4

After running away from the cafe with Bakugo, Bakugo was, I don't know...not exactly nicer...less like a bastard I guess.

He would grunt a quick hello in the hallways every now and then, and occasionally would even initiate a short conversation in the classroom.

Sometimes Bakugo actually remembers my name and calls me Todoroki for once. Which is a big improvement from icyhot or half-n-half bastard.

During school hours, Bakugo usually ignored me, we walked in different circles after all.

But in the lobby Bakugo would talk to me. And on the roof when he wouldn't yell at me if I joined him. He'd just glare at me really quick or ignore me.

If we met out in public Bakugo would save his stalker comments and even walk with me or sit next to me like we hung out in public all the time.

He obviously didn't like to make a big deal of things like that.

But just because he was less...Bakugo-y...didn't mean he wouldn't yell at me or pick a fight. That was just who he was. I remember him talking to me about it.

"Just because we hang out now or whatever doesn't mean I won't hesitate to kick your ass! Above all, you're still my rival, icyhot!"

For some reason that made me like him even more. He wouldn't forget his main ambition just because we happened to be on better terms. I guess I liked that about him.

[A trip back to the present day...brought to you by All Might. Why? Because he is here!]

I was studying with Midoriya in the lounge when I told him what happened in the cafe.

"HE SAID WHAT!?!?"

I nodded thoughtfully, "Yeah, that's what he said."

"'We should do this again. I had fun'. Wow, that's like a love confession for Kacchan." Midoriya mused.

LOVE CONFES--"Don't say stuff like that, it's bad for me," I said.

"Well, for all I know it COULD be! Kacchan isn't even that nice to Kirishima, blatantly saying he had a good time with you and all. It makes sense that he'd make you his friend, though.

He already did hold you in a high respect, but since you're a rival he also DISRESPECTS you, but he saw you in a new light so now he holds you in a different respect altogether as 'fun'.

So I wonder...mutter mutter mutter..." Midoriya started muttering his little tangent to himself, tapping his pencil to his mouth.

"So..." I said, "this is so important to you because..."

Midoriya quit his muttering and smiled, "Because you might have a chance! I'm not saying he definitely likes you or anything, but being friends is certainly a step in the right direction!"

I tried not to scream. Or sigh happily. Or go head over heels because there's still hope for me.

"But," Midoriya said, interrupting my brief moment of happiness. "I wouldn't make any moves yet. We don't even know if Kacchan likes guys. I don't even know if he likes ANYONE!"

I thought about that. It was a big problem. How was I to know if he liked me if I didn't know if he liked other guys? Or, as Midoriya stated, ANYONE for that matter.

Then suddenly...

OF COURSE.

"WE don't know...but I know who might."

[Time skip to after class! Brought to you by adorable Denki Kaminari!]

I was walking through the halls looking for a certain someone.

Suddenly I saw him chatting animatedly to Kaminari. [a/n now do you see why Denki was the time skip sponsor?]

I tapped his shoulder and he turned around.

"Kirishima...can we talk?"

Kirishima gave me a pointy-toothed grin, "Hey, Todoroki! Sure thing! Let's go outside."

He turned to Kaminari, "I'll meetcha back at the dorms later." Kaminari gave him a thumbs up, "Sure. Later, Kirishima, Todoroki."

We both walked outside. Kirishima sat down on the steps, I sat next to him a little awkwardly.

"So," he said. "Whatcha need, man?"

"Well..." I said, "I like Bakugo."

Kirishima stared at me blankly for a second, then went back to normal again. "Yeah, he's a dumbass but you gotta love the guy. I heard about your little escapade. Must've been a blast--"

I cut him off, "No. I...I LIKE Bakugo." It was blunt, but I didn't know how else to get it across to the red-haired boy.

Kirishima looked a little pale, "You mean, like...you wanna be his boyfriend kinda like?" he asked carefully.

I tried to keep a neutral expression, but it was getting increasingly more difficult.

"You know...just forget it," I said. "It doesn't matter." Kirishima slung an arm around my shoulder, tilting it at an odd angle because I was still so much taller than him even sitting down.

"Nah, man, don't be embarrassed! I was just surprised, is all! Confessing to me like that is manly as hell. You're a cool guy, no pun intended," Kirishima gave me a reassuring grin.

I gave a relived sigh. Kirishima really was a nice guy, I had to give him that much.

"So," he said. "Why'd you tell ME you like Bakugo?"

I blushed before I could stop it, "Well, I wanted to know if...do you know...if..." I trailed off, hoping Kirishima would get what I was asking.

"Ohhh...sorry, man. I honestly have no idea," Kirishima rubbed his neck. "Bakugo would never tell me something as personal as that. He's really not...the kind of guy who just comes out to someone, you know."

I nodded my head. I really thought Kirishima would know. But of course Bakugo wouldn't tell him.

Kirishima got closer to me, "But..." he said confidentially. " Just between us, man-to-man...if Bakugo WERE to like anyone, I'm betting he WOULD go for a guy.

He's really not interested in girls at all."

"Does that mean you think I have a shot?" I asked.

"Bro, Todoroki, I seriously hope so. Bakugo could use a little love, know what I'm sayin'? All I can do is wish a man good luck." he replied.

Kirishima shook his arm around me endearingly, "And if you were wondering if I was going to tell anybody I won't. Not even Denki."

I sighed with relief, glad he answered my unspoken question.

Kirishima laughed, "You got weird taste, bro. But I'm so glad you told me this. Honored, really. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful." "No, you've been really helpful. Thanks," I said.

I had a chance. Even if it was small, I still had a chance.
