Paradox- Full Poem+Insight
as the Sky cried its heart out
onto the parched surface
and the land that was once overcome by drought
had surrendered to the Rainstorm, wordless
a flow so intense, like a separated lover's rush of tears
after being Bonnie's Clyde for years and years
a Storm so destructive, a killer on the loose
with no remorse, or intention of declaring a truce
and as the sky's nimble fingers toyed
with the lands below and heavens above
a certain uneasiness, a luring void
replaced the sun rays that radiated love
but as time shall come, so will the Sun
causing the Darkness' death grip to be overrun
by the Star's illumination and dazzling glare
while nature boldly danced without a care
in this world where corresponding forces fight
at our own will, our own might
where Sunshine and Rainstorms create a Rainbow
the sad smiling Sun witnesses it
while the Storm doesn't even know
a Rainbow so colorful, so evident, so clear
glistening in the dark, seemingly so queer
with every stroke a thousand words spoken
immortal and precious, like a golden token
and as the curve extended its infinite arms
capturing people's hearts with its playful charms
as waves of warmth awakened their senses
letting down their heavily guarded fences
in this breathtaking weather, so beautifully sunny
how the Sun turned those eyes into pools of honey
but it burnt the Sun to see the almighty Rainstorm
not being treated as if it's nature in it's truest form
being hell-bent on breaking a social norm
their lips locked outside her college dorm
If you've made it this far, thank you! Truly, it warms my heart to know that there are people out there who share my love and appreciation of art and poetry.
If you made it this far because you're a friend of mine and have been told a million times by me to support my poetry, then thank you nonetheless!
In all honesty, I wrote this poem simply because we were assigned to write a poem in school and so I did what I had been asked to do.
Although I had already turned in the first couple of stanzas, I still felt compelled to write more and continue talking about the feelings that I had bottled up for so long.
"Paradox" talks about the duality of certain personalities and charisma, ones that are put up by people in order to "protect" their hearts and what they hold.
It talks about how there is always someone out there for you no matter how guarded you claim to be. It talks about the conflict between the voices in your head and those in your heart.
To all the people who get so close and then run from their emotions and leave you there to pick up the pieces, thank you for inspiring me.
