The leaves are green
as the day feels mellow,
the sun rises high for the lonely fellow.
He sits in its rays and hopes the day
doesn’t run astray.
But he forgets about the time to embrace
the light upon his face.
Though as his mind wanders past the rays
to something yonder.
He sees the largest array of stars
and finds their presence fonder.
As the leaves shade from green to black,
and the rays disappear,
to never come back.
He bathes in moonlight and stars
that now cover the sky,
and sees to his surprise,
his fondest dream coming by.
