Weird little story about a wizard dabbling in things he does not understand.

Deep Magic

The sky opened up; the magic poured out.

The sky opened up; the magic poured out. The wizard extended a hand, drew it back, tasted the ethereal droplets.

It tasted of nectar and, inexplicably, cinnamon.

The blue of the day grew brighter—a brilliant, electric hue.

His limbs grew heavy and he could not move.

And then it began.

And then it began. His fingers curled; his hair stood on end. Before he could even gasp his chest caved in and he Changed.

The umbrella fell. It was as if he’d disappeared.

If someone were to approach and peek beneath they’d find a newborn, its eyes milky blue, flailing its limbs in the wet grass.
