My wife was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2017. It was to be a few chemo treatments and all was going to be well.
Well, of course it was not that simple for here we are in June of 2018 and the battle is still going. I experienced this moment when someone rang the bell for their last treatment.
I went home and wrote these words.
Title: Infusion Room
Sad faces Solemn faces
Contemplation Examination
Bags with fluid Cords connected to bodies
Mediation Reflection
Beeping noises Sounds of silence
Consideration Deliberation
Heads held downcast
Heads held straight forward
Observation Introspection
Many shall make it Others don’t know
Self-examination Rumination
Visitors Loved ones
Illumination Determination
Nurses Assistants
Investigation Exploration
Patients lying there
Minds wondering where are we going
Sorrow Despondent
Proclamation Declaration
Someone rings the bell
Happiness fills your heart
Then you stop
And, think about your own situation
