A poem about regret that is all too common these days

The Second Mask

I should have listened But now I ask Why I refused To wear that mask

Now I lie here In a bed alone I hate this place It’s not my home

My only friend Is this new mask With tubes and beeps With just one task

Tonight I sleep I will not wake It’s hard to breathe No breath to take
