A poem I wrote this morning about fear and a different approach to dealing with it.

Fear

Fear for what has yet to be done,

Fear for what has yet to be done, What has yet to occur, but it persists.

A sinking hole where light cannot escape,

A sinking hole where light cannot escape, Wrapping around like a familiar cloak,

A sinking hole where light cannot escape, Wrapping around like a familiar cloak, Fighting with every fiber of your being.

Until one day you surrender.

Until one day you surrender. Surrender to the heaviness,

Until one day you surrender. Surrender to the heaviness, Feel its depths and rough texture.

Inhaling it in closer, exhaling it all out.

Inhaling it in closer, exhaling it all out. The grip starts to loosen as you shower it with light.

It's not a monster in the flesh,

It's not a monster in the flesh, With sharp teeth and a void for eyes.

It's a story, old and out of touch.

It's a story, old and out of touch. But with any story there's always an end,

It's a story, old and out of touch. But with any story there's always an end, That was then and this is now.

That was then and this is now.
