Most every rock Most every world Contains ten thousand tons of gold The asteroids are full of it. What don’t they got? They don’t got shit!
When robots faithful work like bees To build a billion waltzing wheels With room enough for multitudes So Earth in awesome view of that Becomes in sight a tad too small!
Won’t be enough to just survive. We’ll want our spirits kept alive!
So we will fill our Golden Wheels With fields of wildflowers bobbing free Tended by the lightest bees Hugged gently by light gravity. We’ll have rocks and waterfalls And eagles soaring in the breeze And birds and bears and chimps and lions Deep forests full of gnarly trees,
With cliffs and mounts and shimmering lakes And dolphins dancing in our seas! But spite all progress this is so Without shit most plants won’t grow And spite all progress this is sure While bots can build a billion things Only life can make manure!
So we will pay what Midas would To ship the stuff millions of miles! And we can’t all poop enough Or shit enough. Or crap enough. We can’t make the stuff near fast enough!
Mankind’s advancement will depend On what comes out our smelly ends!
