by ofthewolves

Have you been manipulated

By someone so close to you

So well that you didn't even see it coming

But it came

but it came

Shattered in an instant

You should've known

Is it your fault

For trusting

Telling people and they tell you

' you should've seen it coming '

' a leopard never changes its spots '

And then you think

About all those times it happened before

But like an idiot

You forgave and forgot

Now your trust is back

to bite you in your ass

And from then on you know

You'd never trust them again

and the world wonders why people have trust issues

betrayal really really sucks. and looking back things always look obvious. sometimes the experience is what makes it great

@bernardtwindwil it's weird how clear stuff looks after it happens, when you should've seen it coming. But right there and then, it felt okay.

I loved the sentiment. You are so right. The poem grasps the exploitation of a manipulator. The second guessing, "you should have seen it coming". But, do you want to live your life waiting for the other shoe to fall? This poem had technical clarity. I loved the internal rhyming and the nice even measured beats. You have talent galore. Write me another one.
