Poems from an odd girl

A Cat

A cat came through here -

A cat came through here - This I saw -

With eyes quite accustomed to fleeing things

It's belly -

It's belly - low -

It's belly - low - to ground not used to rain -

It startled -

It startled - Flew -

It startled - Flew - with burning paws-

It ran -

It ran - straight

It ran - straight - for heaven's door

Alighted on a gate -

Then darted -

Then darted - safe -

Then darted - safe - To the other side.

The Bee

Did the bee know my simple name?

He hears me not -

He hears me not - when I call him

Still I love him

Still I love him all the same

And my longing for him forsakens me -

Dear little bumblebee -

With christened wings of glass

Your ornate eyes -

Your ornate eyes - encapsulate my heart -

Lonely me -

Lonely me - oh woe is me -

For thee cannot -

For thee cannot - won't -

For thee cannot - won't - listen!

The table's set -

The table's set - your tankard's filled -

Join me there -

The joker dances on my hand to-

The joker dances on my hand to-night -

We'll watch the lightning bugs frolic

Oh, bumblebee -

Oh, bumblebee - join me.

Sweet rain, oh give me thyself to keep

The morning sun doth quench my thirst -

For love and fonder thoughts of Home

But when coddled by Clouds -

Lesser -

Lesser - still -

Lesser - still - my heart aches -

And home is here -

And home is here - for Now.

Sounds of loss

The lull in sound -

The lull in sound - presented in-

The lull in sound - presented in-The absence or lack thereof -

The lull in sound - presented in-The absence or lack thereof -Ears.

Death's dear company

A hillside carries a granite house -

A hillside carries a granite house - A Daisy by the door

A hillside carries a granite house - A Daisy by the door The grass lays flat and dead

Worn by feet and grief

A single girl inhabits the home -

She never comes nor goes -

She never comes nor goes -Never did -

She never comes nor goes -Never did - never does

She never comes nor goes -Never did - never does She stays inside -

She never comes nor goes -Never did - never does She stays inside - alone.

A burnable thing am I

A burnable thing am I Perishable -

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash Consumed by cold

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash Consumed by cold Reduced to flame

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash Consumed by cold Reduced to flame My insecurity intoxicates

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash Consumed by cold Reduced to flame My insecurity intoxicates The fire -

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash Consumed by cold Reduced to flame My insecurity intoxicates The fire - Leaving it to beg for my

A burnable thing am I Perishable - to Ash Consumed by cold Reduced to flame My insecurity intoxicates The fire - Leaving it to beg for my Punishing touch.

Nature's Romeo and Juliet

I -

I - the pine

I - the pine And you -

I - the pine And you - the daisy

Our love -

Our love - eternal

Our love - eternal Our leaves fated to intertwine

The sun forever destined

The sun forever destined To lay her lips on our brows

Our gowns will sallow with age

Our gowns will sallow with age But we won't bid time

Along with the rest of the world

Our fickle souls shall ne'er

Our fickle souls shall ne'er Grace the firmament above

Stay -

Stay - upon the life gilded ground

The Daisy

When did the daisy fold her petals in?

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night -

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent The peak of the wolves howl

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent The peak of the wolves howl As they advance on their weary prey

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent The peak of the wolves howl As they advance on their weary prey When the sun hid her bright face

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent The peak of the wolves howl As they advance on their weary prey When the sun hid her bright face Beneath the prairie's golden fabric

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent The peak of the wolves howl As they advance on their weary prey When the sun hid her bright face Beneath the prairie's golden fabric As the candles lit the mortels' homes

When did the daisy fold her petals in? The night - the cusp of the moon's crescent The peak of the wolves howl As they advance on their weary prey When the sun hid her bright face Beneath the prairie's golden fabric As the candles lit the mortels' homes And the crickets struck a chord

The daisy folded her petals in

The daisy folded her petals in When day took leave and night sat up and wandered the world
