this is something different, but i thought i’d give it a try!

a dance for unrequited love

by neutralfleur

we arrived late

we arrived late yet the crowd was thin

i felt my heart

i felt my heart go marching in

you looked at me

you looked at me you grabbed my wrist

for just a second

for just a second i thought we might kiss

i don’t think you’re aware

of the effect you have on me

you stroke my hair

and i feel at ease

we joke about it all the time

i doubt you see the perplexed look

that is trapped within my paradigm

i can handle friends

i can handle art

but with you i cannot seem

to tell them apart

so as we bounce around

and dance tonight

i hope you’ll remain mine

until the morning’s light
