A seedling sprouts from the soil...

Blooming

A seedling sprouts from the soil

Sways in the wind, drinks the rain, takes everything in

A leaf emerges from the stem, and says hello

Welcoming the sun, promising not to go

This is it now, getting used to the weight

Of the new heavy leaves pushing their way through

As our little flower grows, blooming a little a late

The thorns are teaching her things she never even knew

Our flower has wept, our flower has cried

When it rained too much, and the thorns cut her skin

The sun burnt her leaves and she thought she had died

Only to rise once again, drinks the rain, takes everything in

There were many times when she regretted being sown

Forgetting all the things that were once unknown

The rain, the sun, and the thorns told her that she was on her own

Leaving our flower touching the clouds, knowing that she had grown.
