x Chapter One: Intro x
"Dude, have you seen that popular kid? Y'know, Karl Jacobs." Dream asked.
"I heard he's a real snob. Perfect and preppy and stuff."
"Okay, well why'd ya bring him up? I don't need to know about no snob." Sapnap replied.
"George told me he's been having to tutor a lot of people that don't have passing grades. Just warning you."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," He growled.
He was sensitive about the topic, but Dream hadn't known why. He never asked, though, because he was sure Sapnap didn't want to talk about it.
"Anyways," he said, breaking the silence, "Are you excited for the upcoming game?"
His face changed to excitement, "Heck yeah!"
Dream was talking about the upcoming football game. His and Sapnap's team were playing against the high-school a couple of miles from them.
A lot of the players there were huge jerks, so they were excited to go against them.
"Is George going to be cheering you on from the crowd?" Sapnap nudged.
Dream playfully punched his friend. "Shut up."
"Aw, c'mon, dude. You don't need to be embarrassed. He is your boy- uh, best friend after all. Of course he's gonna want to cheer you on."
"... I hate you."
"Love ya too, bestie. Anyw--"
"/Can Sapnap please come to the office. Again, can Sapnap please come to the office./"
"Ugh, brb." He said, as he went down the hall. Eventually, he reached the principal's office and opened the door.
"Hello, Mr. Sapnap. Would you please sit down?" The principal gestured to a chair in front of him.
Sapnap sat down and groaned. "What did I do this time?"
"As you know, your grades have been dropping rapidly. Can you give me a reason as to why that's so?"
Sapnap paused, his breath halting. He let it go and replied, "Dunno..."
"I see. Well, I spoke with your parents and we had gotten you set up in a tutoring session. You and other students will have certain classes replaced with this period."
"Whatever." He said.
"Well then," the principal stood up. "Let me introduce you to your teacher." He walked to the door to let in a tall, lanky messy haired boy.
Sapnap walked to them, looking him over. "Who're you?"
"I'm Karl Jacobs!"
x Chapter Two: Meeting the tutor x
(A/n: Heyo! I really thought this chapter was going to be longer ;~; Anyhow, this part was a bit rushed so it may have some mistakes. )
'Great. Mr. Pretty boy has to tutor me. I just hope he's not as annoying as I've heard.'
"Alrighty, then," The principal said. "I must meet with some teachers, so I'll leave you two boys to get to know one another."
With that, he left the room, leaving Karl and Sapnap in an awkward silence. After a few moments, Karl decided to start the conversation.
"So, what do you like to do in your freetime... uh, I didn't catch your name."
"It's Sapnap. And I like to play Football and Minecraft. You?"
"I play Minecraft and listen to a lot of music. Maybe we could play together sometime?"
He thought about it. "Ah, why not. Heh.."
"Cool!" He smiled.
Sapnap liked that smile, it was... cute.
"So, do you play Football for school or just for fun?"
"I play for the school's team."
"Nice! My sister's a cheerleader here, so I'll be at the game. I'll cheer you guys on."
Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! The bell rang.
"Aw, I wanted to talk more. Well, if you come to Mr. Sean's classroom after school I could give you our study schedule." Karl told him.
"Great, I'll see you then." He walked to the door, opening it for Sapnap. "You first."
The slightly smaller boy walked through the door. "Uh, thanks."
Karl smiled. "Anytime!"
Sapnap spent the rest of his day trudging along his classes until 2:00 when school ended. Before heading off with Dream and George, he went to Mr. Sean's classroom to meet up with Karl.
He opened the door to see Karl frantically picking up some dropped papers. Kneeling down, he picked up some of the papers and handed them to Karl. "I'm assuming these are yours?"
"Oh!" He chuckled. "Yeah, thanks for helping out."
"Anyways, uhm here's the schedule for you to review." Karl handed one of the papers he collected to Sapnap.
"Alright. Well, are you all good here?"
"Yep! I've got it under control."
"Okay, I'll see you later, then." He waved, going out the door.
"M'kay! Have a nice rest of your day!"
There that smile was again. Why did he love it so much?
x Chapter Three: Distractions x
Sapnap had started attending the study sessions and it turned out that Karl was a pretty nice teacher. And actually good at explaining things, too.
Then, today came. He wasn't expecting it, but it happened.
"Hello, class," Karl began. "Please open your textbooks to page 136 so we can review what we worked on last week." Everyone opened their textbooks and got right to work.
Well, mostly everyone, that is. Sapnap sat at his desk, staring out the window. Karl didn't bother him, though. He just thought he was thinking about the question in his textbook.
Besides, this was his worst subject so that would make sense. Or would it?
After an hour of working, Karl had everyone take a break because one of their classmates had brought in a snack for them to share.
They were allowed to use their phones at this time, and Sapnap got a text. His face turned to shock, to confusion, to sadness.
He quickly tried to keep a straight face, though, because he didn't want to share his emotions.
After their break, they went back to studying. Sapnap started, but just couldn't focus. He put his head down and tried his best not to cry.
Karl was looking over the results from a test the students had taken. Then he looked up, wanting to pull a student out to talk about a misunderstanding they had on a question.
When he did, however, he saw Sapnap's head in his arms, trembling slightly. He got up from his desk and walked over to him.
He leaned down and whispered, "Hey, can you come out to the hallway with me?" After a few moments Sapnap got up, leaving the classroom with Karl.
"What? Did I do the test wrong or something?" He asked, his voice shaking.
"No." Karl responded. "We can discuss the test results another time, because that's not what I wanted to talk to you about."
Sapnap looked up, confused, but let Karl continue.
He cleared his throat. "Earlier, you seemed to be distracted during the review. Then, you were having your head down while you were studying. I wanted to make sure that you were alright."
"Of course I'm stinkin' alright." He said, but his face told another story.
Karl waited. "Sapnap, you can tell me anything. If it has something to do with class I would gladly-" But Sap interrupted.
"No. It... it's just that..." Tears were streaming down his face. "Uhm, well... during break I got a text from my dad.
He and my mom have been arguing a lot lately, so it's been really distracting for my studies overall. H-he told me that they were getting a divorce and that's final."
He tried to sniff back his tears but it didn't work. He was practically sobbing at this point.
"I've just, I've just tried so hard to keep them together, and then they go and text me all insensitively that it's over...! They didn't even bother to call me or wait until I got home...."
Karl sat there, taking in it all. "Look, I don't know how you're feeling and I'm not going to pretend that I do.
But, I can assure you that you'll be okay! You're strong, and I know you have plenty of friends to keep your spirits up." He paused.
"I want you to use the rest of this period to go to the bathroom and clean yourself up. Get yourself composed. But I need you to come back to class after school, okay?"
Sapnap nodded, wiping his face.
"Good." He helped the other boy up, and headed back to the classroom. Before he reached the door, though, he felt someone hug him from behind. It was Sapnap.
"Thank you..." He said, quietly.
Karl smiled, glad. "Of course."
(A/n: Hey so, as you've noticed, this is quite a bit longer than most stories you see on here. Plus, this ended on chapter three out of at the very least 13. As the word count has been reached, you can look for the rest of the chapters in my next stories. I don't know if people will stay to read as it is pretty long, but I hope those who do will enjoy it.)
