Have you ever walked along a forest path and watched the earth live, or heard small animals in the underbrush skitter as they go by?
Have you ever sat on a hill, away from society and corruption, just to see that giant tangerine tear slide below the horizon?
Have you ever wandered through a grove of weeping willows at twilight, feeling the breeze on your skin, letting the mysticism of the trees fill your mind with peace?
The earth is glorious unto itself, yet you’re so consumed you never halt your mind to absorb the everlasting beauty before you. Perhaps you should take a day.
Stand in a field of wild flowers, whispering to and fro, far from harsh city lights. And when night falls, lose yourself in the bounty of stars you will see there.
You must not fret over time for nature is timeless, even when the seasons change.
Whether you stay to watch the crimson leaves sway in the midday sun, or gaze at a world flooded in pale moonlight on a clear spring night, bask in it.
If you have seen the earth on this way you know you have changed, these things alter your spirit and quiet your mind. They give you serenity even in the midst of unfeeling concrete walls.
Those of us trapped within these cold confines dream of the outside, of escaping, of melting into nature as we truly are.
We dream of taking our place in the tranquil forest, next to the wildlife and the sky.
We are wishing, hoping, praying, that we will be free to throw off the shackles of our unforgiving society, lose our dependence on time, break the chains of material value, and just live.
This is what I hope for, this is what I wait for, but all I can do is dream…
