There was a noise coming from the basement. A shrill sound that sent a shiver down my spine. Chilling me to the bone instantly and urging me to follow its empty and pleading cry.
Hands over ears, I lay down and closed my closed my heavy eyelids... The resounding noise continued to taunt me.
Its sharpness and innocence like a physical wound to the brain, making me forget a time before the noise had filled my empty cell. Abruptly, the sound stopped.
The eerie silence choking me with its threat of the unknown. What was a baby doing down in the basement?
