forgiveness...can you imagine? ;)

forgiveness

What is forgiveness?

Oh, my love.

Forgiveness is when someone, gone too long from your side, returns

When they transform from a ghost to flesh and blood,

And god, you can feel the change.

It's when something that used to burn bright,

That you thought had been extinguished by the storm of life, reignites.

It might not be the raging fire it used to be

(now it is but a flickering, sputtering flame)

But it is there, and that is enough.

When the bitterness, the grudges you held tight against your chest, fall,

Shattering against the floor, and you feel light again,

And a burden is lifted

When you look at the scars in the mirror and see them not as damning,

But a map across your skin showing all the places you've been,

Proof that you made it through, time and again.

An ellipsis...and then words.

Blessed words that prove

That your story isn't over yet.
