Little One

by Missy

It opens up its little eyes For there is something it hopes to see It expect to see great happiness And a world full of glee

But instead it sees nothing It is completely alone For one would not take it To keep it as her own

She cries by night and lies by day Of the one who she let go For she is aware of where it is And wishes she could go

The little one watches as she makes the same mistake twice It does not judge or cry even when she makes it thrice

The little one watched as her world began to fill Because of those who did not have any strength of will

The He held it tight and spoke in a very kind tone And let it know that even it had never been alone

I loved this poem. Other than my grandchildren, we don't have so many little ones anymore. We are visited every evening by the does and their fawns. Great poem!!!
