Luna’s POV I think Rory feels that it’s her fault Kat died. It’s no ones fault. If anyone, it should have been me in her place. Blair says, “Then how are we supposed to escape? We don’t have a leader!” Rory snaps, “Well, what are we going to do?” I don’t say anything, since I’m trying to send a signal to Rory to just become our
leader. Apparently she didn’t get it because she continued ranting, saying that now that we don’t have a leader, we’ll be unorganized and confused. She’s also saying that we have such bad luck. I interrupt her, “You should become the new leader then. Right now our main priority is to get out of here alive.” They all look shocked, and I’m like, “What?”
Rory’s POV Luna’s right. I knew Kat the best. I gesture the rest to follow me and we sneak to an abandoned house. I think it was Blair’s. We climb up a tree, crawl through the window, and Blair stifles a gasp. “This is my dorm,” she grips her butcher knife. “Or, what’s left of it...” Nico mumbles. Micheal looks around for anything intact.
“Is there anything?” I ask. He shakes his head no. We get to work and board up the broken windows. Nico goes down to the power box, and somehow gets it started again. We didn’t turn on the lights, since the killers may see it. We also didn’t use the wifi, since there may be hackers who can trace where the source came from. We did use the stove to make, you guessed it, instant noodles.
We chose to all sleep in the same room, since there is a chance the killers might attack us. I stayed on watch with Drew while the others slept. Lilith then took her shift. The next morning I was shook awake by Luna, worry painting her face. “Lilith’s gone!”
Lilith’s POV It’s my shift right now. I hear some rustling from the window. I grab my crowbar and get ready to smack anyone who comes near me. A girl rises from the bushes. She waves and mouths, “We want to recruit you,” or something like that, and I’m all like, “Excuse me?” She rolls her eyes and knocks on the window. I
slide it open enough so she could talk, but not enough for her to attack. She then says, “Phew, I’m Nikki, the “killers” want to recruit you for hacking for us!” I am taken aback. “What?” She hands me a piece of paper, which is a contract. I read it over and say, “Why not? You’re giving me fresh food and Wifi right?” She nods and motions for me to follow her. Sorry guys, I’ll try to find some
helpful information. I’m going to be their only hacker, they can’t get rid of me. I look back once, and close the window. I whisper, “Lead the way, Nikita.” She whisper-yells back, “I’m just Nikki.” I then say, “Alright, just Nikki.” “Ugh,” she flips her hair into my face and I spit it out. DisgusTING. “I may reconsider,” I grumble
under my breath. “What was that?” she turns back to me. I shrug. She gives me the signal, ‘I’m watching you’ and I roll my eyes. This is going to be the worst choice in my life, isn’t it.
